Kompel Nostalgia Collection Batch No.12 "Egg Briquette Press" is a dark full-bodied beer, with a velvet character. Note chocolate, coffee and nutty notes from the roasted malts. The neutral yeast gives this beer an alcoholic aftertaste. A sturdy bock with a hint of hop bitterness from Belgian Tettnanger. Ideal on a drizzly autumn day or with a hearty dessert buffet.

THE STORY:
Coal came in different shapes and sizes. The coal that had broken loose in the pillars deep underground arrived at the above-ground mining company in chunks ranging from many kilograms in weight to a few millimeters in size. In the coal washing plant, all those bits and pieces were divided by size and purified. Each format had its application in the coal market.
AND
In the coal washing plant, various substances were sieved out, including fine coal.
The fine coal served as fuel for electric power stations. By mixing the fine coal with pitch, briquettes could also be pressed. This happened in briquette factories. Briquettes came in different weights, up to more than ten kilos. The larger briquettes (block briquettes) were sold as fuel for bakeries, industrial installations, ships and locomotives. Egg briquettes (or egg coals) weighed 55 grams. An even smaller variety were the baby egg briquettes, which weighed 35 grams. Egg and baby egg briquettes were used for house fires. The initials of the mining company were pressed into the briquettes.
